What is a click floor?

Click floors are a relatively new type of floor, which is particularly characterized by how easy it is to lay. Click floors basically consist of three different elements. At the bottom there is wood, in the middle usually plywood or chipboard and at the top there will again be wood or plastic.

The upper element can look like many different types of wooden floors , so that you can get exactly the look you are after.

When it needs to be installed, you must not use nails, glue or screws. It actually just needs to be clicked together, and is almost as easy as building with LEGO. So even for the most inexperienced handyman, laying a click floor should be a manageable project.

How do you lay a click floor?

After all, click floors are known for being incredibly easy to lay, which appeals to many people. And compared to laying a 'normal' floor, it is also a somewhat easier process.

The most voluminous part consists almost in the preparation itself. Here it is important to do the processing properly, so that the actual installation of the click floor takes place as easily and painlessly as possible.

First of all, of course, you need to find out how much material you need in order to lay a click floor that fills the entire area. When you have measured, you should always add about 5% extra to the amount, so that you are absolutely sure that there is enough.

It is also important to check whether the substrate is suitable enough for you to lay a click floor. And when we write that the conditions must be reasonably good, it primarily means that the surface must be as flat as possible. There must be a maximum level difference of 2 mm per 2 metres. If the room has too great a level difference, you should correct the problem before the click floor is laid. It can, for example, is done with a special putty compound which is applied to the subfloor. Here it is always good to consult a professional.

When the click floor itself has to be laid, it should be relatively painless. There is always a guide with the individual floor, which explains in an easy-to-understand way how the individual floor should be laid.

In general, it takes place in such a way that on each individual board there will be a 'fer' and a 'groove'. It is an expression of the sides of the board, and is simply an expression of which way the boards must face each other. The 'fern' is the one that sticks out, and the 'note' is where the 'fern' must be inserted. When you do this, the boards lock.
