Dryback
In this category you will find a selection of dryback vinyl floors for full gluing. Common to all the vinyl floors here is that they are easy to install and take up almost nothing in thickness. This means that you can install a vinyl fryback floor almost anywhere. The only requirement is a flat and stable subfloor such as slab floor or plastered concrete floor.
LVT Dryback (glued vinyl flooring) - what are they all about?
Vinyl flooring, or LVT (luxury vinyl tiles), appeared relatively recently in the interior design industry and has already won the hearts of designers, investors and private individuals who decorate their homes on their own. They are made of several layers of polyvinyl chloride and covered with PU varnish. This is why they are so durable. But their durability, resistance to wear and freshness in appearance even after many years is due to the fact that the texture is imprinted on the last layer.
Interestingly, although the most common pattern of vinyl flooring reproduces different shades of wood, there are also those that perfectly imitate other surfaces, for example:
wooden parquet,
concrete,
stone,
steel.
This choice gives you an infinite number of arrangement possibilities. Especially if you go a step further with your imagination and ask yourself the question "can I stick vinyl panels somewhere other than the floor..."?
Glue-on vinyl floors
AROQ joint floors are 2.5 mm thick and very flexible. They require a perfectly prepared floor, "smooth as a table" screed. LVT adhesives are very strong and the high flexibility of the panels means that any imperfection in the sub-floor will be visible on the floor surface. Laying such floors requires experience, and if you have not laid the floor before, be careful with dryback flooring the first time. This type of floor can also be used for renovation, over the existing substrate, but the same rule applies - all unevenness should be eliminated. If we decide to install panels of this type, we will do it in accordance with the building regulations, prepare the appropriate screed, we will be able to enjoy the quietest floor, which will also be the most efficient solution for underfloor heating. Expansion is not necessary for dryback panels, so we do not need profiles in the door.
Which interior is suitable for glued vinyl planks?
Dryback flooring is a universal floor finish that looks good almost anywhere. Contrary to appearances, not only in private homes. More and more often, such a solution is also used in public spaces: in offices, cultural institutions as well as in offices, hotels and restaurants. Private entrepreneurs see the advantages of using vinyl panels in interior design - especially easy to maintain hygiene and resistance to damage. Gluing the panels has an additional advantage, such a floor is incredibly quiet. Their full waterproofness means that they can be glued even in wet areas, e.g. in the shower!
So if glued vinyl planks fit into any interior, why would you want to read on?
Because it's not about whether they fit, but most of all HOW they fit!
You can follow the beaten path and lay the dryback floor in the classic way side by side on the floor of the entire apartment. It also has its charm, and there are interiors that even beg for such a discreet, muted floor. But if you dream of something new and want to go crazy with the interior design of the room, perhaps one of our suggestions will be an inspiration for you?
Put the vinyls on the floor... but differently than usual.
If you decide to install traditional glued vinyl planks on the floor, remember that there are still plenty of options ahead of you. Dryback panels are thin, do not have a locking system and are easy to cut. You are not limited by their size, you do not have to be faithful to a color version. You can glue subsequent segments in any configuration, which means that how the final result will look is up to you.
Can't find inspiration? Let's suggest some of the most popular patterns used to lay dryback floors. Don't feel obligated though - you might have a better idea in the meantime.
English pattern - this is the most classic way of arranging panels. We only mention it as a principle because we promised you a hint of madness. However, you should know that even symmetrical, parallel arrangements of vinyls are impressive - perfect for minimalists and people who appreciate orderly spaces.
Herringbone - a hit that hasn't come off the top of the floor charts for decades. Until now it was the parquet area, now you can also make it using glued vinyl flooring. With some patterns (French and Hungarian herringbone) you will have to work a little and cut individual elements, but the end result is definitely worth it.
Bricks - have you ever seen a brick wall? Well, you know what a pattern called a brick looks like. These are rows of panels arranged in parallel, offset by half their length relative to each other. This regularity is fascinating... so if you're a fan of straight lines rather than curves, this brick will work for you.
Checkerboard – that is, as you have probably guessed, squares made of panels, usually in two different color variants. They are mounted alternately, once horizontally and once vertically. It is an effective floor finish that is worth displaying over a large area. It makes an impression on the guests, especially the chess players.
Ladder - it may not take you too high, but this original pattern of panels placed vertically and horizontally will definitely make your room stand out from others. Also in this case, two colors of vinyl are often used, emphasizing the contrast between the "steps" and the "railing". It looks exciting, but beware - it doesn't match everything.
Vinyl flooring on the wall - why not?
Did you know that dryback flooring can not only be glued to the floor? This is because they are extremely thin! So they will not stand out much more on the wall than, for example, ordinary wallpaper. They are also much thinner than the traditional tiles that often decorate walls in bathrooms or kitchens.
So why not install vinyl planks glued to some walls in your home? There are several surfaces that will definitely benefit from this. Our tips:
- kitchen wall,
- walls in the bathroom,
- TV wall in the living room,
- headboard behind the bed,
- element of a playhouse in a children's room,
- decorative wall in the hall.
Go crazy and put LVT dryback on the ceiling!
Who doesn't like cozy wooden ceilings? They are associated with a cottage far away in the mountains, where the forest rustles around, the wind blows through the ceiling and a fireplace crackles in the living room ... Wood in interior design often makes the room feel cozier. In addition, it is quite universal – it suits both rustic and minimalist interiors.
But installing a wooden ceiling in an apartment, which is not usually made of wood, requires significant financial outlays and a lot of effort. Therefore, glued vinyl planks are a good substitute. They imitate wood, so they give a feeling of coziness, and at the same time are cheaper and more accessible than natural wooden constructions. Just put them on the ceiling and you have the impression that you are lying under heavy logs.
Installation of glued vinyl flooring
LVT Dryback has its own requirements - above all, it is a properly prepared substrate. Dismantling the panels once they are glued is difficult and tedious, therefore in this case there is no room for mistakes due to inexperience. If you are not a panel gluing specialist, it is better to use the services of a specialist. This type of service costs money, but consider it an investment. Thanks to this expense, you save for the future - both money and your nerves.
Self-adhesive vinyl floors - a smart solution?
In many supermarkets you can also find self-adhesive vinyl flooring.
They have an integrated adhesive layer. Potentially easy to install, just tear off the adhesive backing paper and stick it on... well, this is where the stairs begin. Such panels cannot be glued to a regular concrete floor, as dust or dirt reduces the adhesive strength. The solution is often advertised as ideal for renovations to be laid on tiles. However, the characteristic of glued panels is that after sticking to the tiles, we will see every joint, and even their structure, on the surface of the new floor. For a good effect, you must use a perfect surface, preferably a new screed. The biggest advantage of these floors is undoubtedly the price.
Have you already decided where you want to install glued vinyl planks?
There are many ways to use LVT dryback flooring. You can lay them classically on the floor, or go crazy and decorate the walls and ceiling with them, decide whether you prefer a traditional pattern or something imaginative. Most importantly, if you choose this type of floor finish, you don't have to be limited to just one arrangement. So if you like unconventional solutions and interesting ideas, glued vinyl planks are just the thing for you.
