Nordic Floorheating, developed their first underfloor heating panels in 2002. The specially developed plywood panels were based on a 15 mm thick panel made up of 11 crossed wooden layers, on which a 0.3 mm aluminum heat distribution panel was glued. In 2002, it was the thinnest and most advanced underfloor heating system on the market.

Unfortunately, it turned out that their previous heating plate, which was based on EPS and made of a good and insulating material, did not have the desired compressive strength and had too much moisture absorption. So in 2017 they switched to making underfloor heating panels in XPS instead.
