There are 2 bips basic descriptions for floor work:
• B2,340 (replaced B225 as of 1 May 2009) for sub-floors of cement-based screed, cement- or anhydrite-based floating mortar and sub-floors of cast asphalt. Subfloors made of granules and sand are not covered by B2.340
• B2,345 (replaced B226 as of 1 April 2009) covers commonly occurring floor covering work in construction. The more special floor constructions such as installation floors, electrically conductive floors, floors in wet rooms, laboratories and the food industry as well as sports floors are not covered by B2.345.

A "base description" is a collection of description specifications that act as a common reference basis, i.e. specifications that are generally applicable and independent of the individual projects. The basic descriptions have been prepared by the association bips and are part of the joint description tool, which a number of member companies - architects, consulting engineers, contractors and builders published in the first edition in 2001. The intention is that the basic descriptions become national de factor standards that will contribute to the communication between the planners and the executors becomes more unambiguous because they work from a common reference basis. The basic descriptions form an integral part of the electronic description tool that bips has published. More information about the electronic description tool can be obtained on bips' website www.bips.dk or in Byggecentrum's Bookshop. The common description structure is described in publication B1.000 (formerly B100), which was published in September 2008 and replaces B100 from August 2001. Both descriptions can be purchased in Byggecentrum's Bookshop or downloaded free of charge from bip's website. The flooring industry recommends that all builders and consultants use the relevant elements from the joint bips description tool for future tenders for flooring work.

The name bips stands for construction - information technology - productivity - collaboration. The association bips was founded by a merger of the associations BPS, ibb and IT-Bygge.Net in 2003.
